New York City, New York
Three Days, Five Boroughs
A short, fast trip through New York with a list of things we got wrong and a few we got very right.
Three days is too short and also exactly enough. You’ll miss things. Pick a neighbourhood per day and let it lead you. Ours: Lower East Side, Long Island City, Williamsburg.
Day 1 — Lower East Side
Bagel at Russ & Daughters (yes, it’s worth it). Walked the bridge into DUMBO just because we hadn’t yet. Coffee at Devoción. Dinner at Pasquale Jones — book a month out.
Day 2 — Long Island City
Cheaper, quieter, better skyline view. MoMA PS1 had a sound piece that followed us across three rooms. Late lunch on a rooftop with the Empire State Building lit up in some occasion-specific colour we couldn’t decode.
Day 3 — Williamsburg
Coffee, vinyl, dumplings, the ferry back to Wall Street at golden hour. Skipped the touristy spots. Did not regret it.
What I’d do differently
Slower mornings. New York rewards patience. Six things in a day is two too many.
